About the Pyro Artist

Hello there, I am Dane, the founder and pyrographer for DRW Pyroart. I have been creating pyrography artwork and products for a number of years from my home outside Chesterfield, England.

But my first foray into pyrography was when I was a young lad living in South Africa and my father showed me how to do basic pyrography at home using a simple solid tip pyrography tool. Although I enjoyed it a lot, as all young people do, my focus moved away into other activities.

Quite a few years later, I picked up a pyrography pen again and started to teach myself different techniques and practiced, practiced, practiced.

Being colour blind (or more accurately colour deficient as I can see colour but not like people with normal colour vision) I never felt confident with painting with colour but I discovered I loved the building up of shading and textures through pyrography to create art and other works.

As I learned and practiced (and practiced some more), I moved onto using more advanced tools. From a solid tip pyrography pen, I got myself a Peter Child wire tip pyrography machine to see how much more I could do.

Now, alongside my trusty Peter Child machine, I have a Razortip SS-D10 and I use both of these in all my work as that gives me a range of tip options I can use for different aspects and details.

I am not affiliated with either of these products’ companies, they are just the machines I decided to get. I am sure you can research the options available and make your own choices too.

After teaching myself and growing my skills, I enjoy creating artwork on different subjects. A lot of my work focuses on wildlife and nature portraits, although I do also enjoy pet, people, and other subject portraits as well.

All my original artwork and gifts are available for purchase in my shop and you can see my portfolio of work in my gallery. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and watch my videos on Youtube using the links on page.

I enjoy working with pyrography so much, each time I finish a piece of either my own idea or from a commission, I start thinking about my next art piece I want to do (unless, of course, I have more commissions to start on).

I hope you find something you love in my shop, but if you have anything in mind you’d like creating especially for you, please feel free to reach out.

I have provided more information on the Commissions page on how I can work with you and you can also message or email anytime and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
